Friday saw the second anniversiary of the Syrian Revolution. In the following we document a statement by our partner, the Network of Local Coordination Committees, that is still organising and supporting civil, unarmed resistance against the dictatorship of Bashar al Assad.

Unified Message from the Local Coordination Committees in Syria

Demonstrators in Syria completed their second year of protesting, and despite all of the death and torture, Syrians still insist on the victory of their revolution; a revolution of freedom, and dignity, despite the attempt by brutal regime to suppress all manifestations of protest, demanding to topple the regime and its symbols, but the Syrian people proved that they would not abandon their demands for freedom.

Syrians sent letters of reproach to the whole world and stressed that the March revolution is a revolution for all Syrians, and that victory is near. The Local Coordination Committees also saluted Homs, which rose up again with spring.

The coordination committees in Boukamal and Khareeta in Deir Ezzor, Erbeen, Zabadani, Hamouria and Jdaidet Artouz in Damascus Suburbs, Tafas, Kafr Shams, Mzeireeb, Nawa and Tseel in Daraa, Baza’a in Aleppo, Qadmous in Tartous, Masyef in Hama, Wa’er neighborhood and Qusair city from Homs, Hasakeh and Qameshli have helped in sending messages to the world that this revolution will soon be victorious and that the departure of Bashar is a demand that the Syrian rebels will not abandon.
