The Syrian Revolution enters its 10th month with more than 5000 martyrs

Exactly 9 months ago, the Syrian Revolution was sparked for freedom and dignity, and end the regime of tyranny and corruption that lasted for decades resulting hunderds of thousands of victims of missings, detainees, and exiles. In the past 9 months, the regime used every possible method of violence in its desperate attempt to crush the revolution, commiting crimes against humanity that didn’t spare a child or an eldar.

The total number of martyrs of the revolution during the past nine months, according to statistics from the Center for Documentation of Violations in Syria and the Local Coordinating Committees, was 5,216 martys. These numbers include those which the activists were able to verify and document, with an assurance that the actual numbers exceed these figures and that new names are added to these numbers every day, however, these deaths were not known in time due to the circumstances of the siege, the consecutive raids, and the disconnection of communication lines.

The remaining military martyrs’ location of death was known however their cities of origins were unknown. The number of military martyrs, who were killed as a result of their defection from the army, is 968 martyrs. The number of child martyrs was 356, 289 of whom were boys and 67 of whom were girls. Atleast 256 people died under torture in the cellars of the various security branches. In addition to the martyrs, tens of thousands of detainees, missing persons, and people displaced from their homes and their towns.
