Participate in the program Talking about the Revolution!
The Program – What is it about?
Talking about the Revolution is a program for Syrians living in Germany. It gives you the opportunity to actively participate in the German debates on Syria through information events about the Syrian Revolution and Civil Society. The program connects Syrian activists with each other and supports you in gaining knowledge about the German debates and argument strategies. The aim is to add a new perspective and make your voice hearable for a German audience through speaking up on information events.
Target Groups – Who can apply?
The programm adresses Syrians living all over Germany, who actively wittnessed the Syrian Revolution. We are looking for committed and politically active participants / speakers, who would like to enrich the debate on Syria in Germany. You should be willing to connect with actors of the German civil society and spread knowledge and appreciation for the peaceful actors of the Syrian Revolution. You should be familiar with speaking English and/or German
Frame – How does the program look like?
The program is running from March till October 2018 and is designed in 3 phases. The trainings, network meetings and mentoring will be based in Berlin, the information events will take place all over Germany. All travel and accomodation costs will be covered by us, no costs for you!
1) Trainings and Network Meetings
During the trainings the participants get familiar with the current debate on Syria and your own role in it. This contains argumentation trainings as well as various presentation and storytelling skills about how to create an information event in Germany and how to interact with a German audience. Furthermore there is space for mutual exchange. You will meet other activist and discuss experiences and perspectives. Furthermore you will get to know the work of our organisation Adopt a Revolution.
2) Mentoring
During the program you will have several preparational meetings in Berlin with an experienced mentor out of the Adopt-a-Revolution-Team in order to set up your own info events.
3) Events
The informational events are the heart of the project. In total you will be active in 2-3 events. The project team of Adopt a Revolution will support and accompany you in it.

Du warst aktiv in der syrischen Revolution? Seit du hier in Deutschland lebst, bist du unzufrieden mit der Berichterstattung zu Syrien in den deutschen Medien und der öffentlichen Debatte? Du findest auch, dass nicht nur geopolitischen Strategien und Religion in Deutschland diskutiert werden sollten, um die Situation in Syrien zu verstehen. Und du willst diese Debatte in Deutschland mit eigenen Erfahrungen und Perspektiven aktiv mitgestalten und deinen Beitrag leisten, um die Situation zu erklären?
Dann nimm am Programm „Talking about the Revolution“ teil.
Das Programm – Worum geht es?
Talking about the Revolution ist ein Programm, bei dem in Deutschland lebende SyrerInnen qualifiziert werden, Informationsveranstaltungen zum Thema Syrien und syrische Zivilgesellschaft durchzuführen. Das Programm vernetzt syrische AktivistInnen miteinander, öffnet Raum für Austausch und gibt eine praktische Einführung in deutsche Debatten um Syrien. Ziel ist, durch Informationsveranstaltungen eine neue Perspektive in die vorherrschende Syriendebatte einzubringen und um den Fokus auf die friedensstiftenden Aktivitäten der syrischen Zivilgesellschaft zu erweitern.
Wer kann teilnehmen?
Die Weiterbildungsprogramm richtet sich an Syrer*innen, die in Deutschland leben. Wir suchen engagierte und politisch aktive Menschen, die den Syriendiskurs in Deutschland wollen. Du solltest Lust haben, dich mit einer deutschen Zivilgesellschaft auszutauschen, etwas Zeit zu investieren und über die Akteure der friedlichen syrischen Revolution zu informieren. Außerdem solltest du bereits einige Deutsch- und/oder Englischkenntnisse haben.
Rahmen – Was wird gemacht?
Das Programm findet von März bis Oktober 2018 statt und ist in 3 Phasen angelegt. Die Trainingsmodule, Netzwerktreffen und das Mentoring finden in Berlin statt. Die Informationsveranstaltungen werden in ganz Deutschland sein.
1) Trainings und Netzwerktreffen
Während 2-3 tägiger Trainings werden die Teilnehmenden in die aktuelle deutsche Debatte um Syrien und Möglichkeiten der eigenen Partizipation darin eingeführt. Dies beinhaltet ein Argumentationstraining, Austausch über den Umgang mit einem deutschen Publikum sowie die Vermittlung von Präsentations- und Storytelling-Kompetenzen. Darüber hinaus werden gemeinsam Informations-Formate erarbeitet. Außerdem gibt es viel Raum für Vernetzung und Austausch unter mit anderen AktivistInnen und mit unserer Organisation Adopt a Revolution.
2) Mentoring
Bevor du selbst eine Infoveranstaltung machst, wirst du dich in verschiedenen Vorbereitungstreffen mit einer erfahrenen Person aus dem Adopt a Revolution Team treffen und die Veranstaltung gemeinsam vorbereiten.
3) Veranstaltungen
Die Informationsveranstaltungen sind das Kernstück des Projekts. Ihr werdet werden bundesweit 2-3 Veranstaltungen durchführen. Dabei unterstützt euch das Projektteam von AaR. Veranstaltungen werden vom Projektteam in Kooperation mit den Teilnehmenden organisiert und durchgeführt.
